Day 1 :

Assemble to Meet & Greet at Gorakhpur.

Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu, you are welcomed by the team and then you will be transferred to your hotel. This trail goes through Ghorepani Poon Hill. Normally, the trek starts like Pokhara to Nayapul and ends like Phedi to Pokhara. While early travel tended to be slower, more dangerous, and more dominated by trade and migration, cultural and technological advances over many years have tended to mean that travel has become easier and more accessible. The evolution of technology in such diverse fields as horse tack and bullet trains has contributed to this trend.

Day 2 :

Welcome at Sonauli, Official Documentation and Drive to Pokhara.

Day 3 :

Free Day in Pokhara. The day off before you dive into Nepalese highway with your car.

The Palace of Fifty five Windows: This magnificent palace was built during the reign of King Yakshya Malla in A.D. 1427 and was subsequently remodeled by King Bhupatindra Malla in the seventeenth century. Among the brick walls with their gracious setting and sculptural design, is a balcony with Fifty five Windows, considered to be a unique masterpiece of woodcarving.

Day 4 :

Pokhara to Jomsom via High Bridge and follows the Kali Gandaki River till Jomsom.

Far far away, behind the word mountains, far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia, there live the blind texts.

Day 5 :

Day 08 :

Breakfast and drive back to Kalopani (7hrs), Lunch on the way-Dinner and overnight at Kalopani.

Day 09 :

Breakfast and drive to Pokhara (5-6hrs)-Lunch on the way-Dinner and overnight at Pokhara.

Day 10 :

Drive/Ride from Kalopani to Bhairawaha (242 kms)

Day 11 :

Exit the Indo Nepal border and the trip ends.

Do I need a special permit to visit Upper Mustang?

Yes, Upper Mustang is a restricted area in Nepal. Both Indian and foreign nationals require a Restricted Area Permit (RAP), which is arranged by the tour operator.

The process of official documentation at Sonauli Border takes about 2-4 hrs. Our Upper Mustang Self Drive Tour team with a ground representative will do everything possible to speed up the job, as well facilitate your waiting time.  In the meantime, we deeply request you to support our members in enjoying the chaos and experiencing the adventure of a Road Permit of Nepal.

NOTE: This process has to be completed by yourself since customs officers check your vehicles and question you before they provide you RC for Nepal.

Is the SUV tour suitable for all age groups?

While the tour is moderately demanding, it is suitable for travelers in good health. However, elderly people or those with respiratory issues should consult a doctor due to high altitudes.

What is the best time for the Upper Mustang tour?

The best months are April to November. Unlike other Himalayan regions, Upper Mustang lies in the rain shadow and remains mostly dry even during the monsoon.

Upper Mustang lies at elevations between 2,800 and 4,200 meters. While acclimatization stops are included, mild symptoms can occur. Drinking plenty of fluids and slow ascents help.

What are the accommodation options?

You’ll stay in comfortable 3 Starer hotels and local guesthouses (teahouses) with basic but clean amenities. Lo Manthang offers better facilities compared to remote villages.

What type of clothing and gear should I pack?

Pack layered warm clothing, sturdy shoes, a windproof jacket, sunglasses, sunscreen, personal medication, and a small daypack. Nights can be very cold, even in summer.

RE-FEULING Option

We don’t have any petrol stations after Ghasa. Whether we have to carry an extra fuel jar and fill it from Ghasa or need to pay a high price at Jomsom or above.
