Overview
Overland Adi Kailash & Om Parvat – Uttarakhand
The Overland Adi Kailash & Om Parvat Yatra is a rare blend of spiritual awakening and Himalayan adventure, taking you deep into the remote frontiers of Kumaon, Uttarakhand. This sacred journey unfolds through the picturesque valleys of Chaukori, Darma Valley, and Vyas Valley, ultimately leading to Om Parvat and Adi Kailash—two deeply revered peaks in Hindu mythology.
The tour begins in Haldwani/Kathgodam, the gateway to Kumaon. From here, you embark on a scenic drive to Chaukori, a tranquil hill station surrounded by snow-capped peaks and tea gardens. As you move toward Dharma Valley, the landscape transforms into rugged high-altitude terrain, passing through ancient tribal villages and untouched Himalayan wilderness. The valley is serene, isolated, and blessed with spiritual energy, making it an ideal place for introspection.
From Dharma Valley, the journey continues into Vyas Valley, historically significant and spiritually charged. It’s from here that pilgrims set out to visit Om Parvat, a majestic peak that bears a natural snow formation resembling the sacred “ॐ” symbol. This phenomenon draws countless devotees each year and is regarded as a divine representation of Lord Shiva.
The next sacred stop is Adi Kailash, also known as Chhota Kailash. Often called the earthly replica of Mount Kailash in Tibet, Adi Kailash stands tall near the Indo-Tibet border and is revered as Lord Shiva’s ancient abode. Nearby lies Gauri Kund, where Parvati is believed to have meditated. Surrounded by silence, snow-clad peaks, and crisp mountain air, the aura of this place leaves a lasting spiritual impression.
While the pilgrimage itself is a powerful experience, the journey is equally captivating. You’ll traverse along the Kali River, cross suspended wooden bridges, and witness traditional Himalayan life untouched by time. Stops at remote villages like Gunji, Nabi, and Kuti give you a rare glimpse into the culture and resilience of local communities.
On the way back, the spiritual journey continues with visits to sacred shrines such as Jageshwar Dham—home to over 100 ancient Shiva temples nestled in a cedar forest, Chitai Golu Devta Temple known for fulfilled wishes, and Kainchi Dham, the globally known ashram of Neem Karoli Baba.
This 9-day overland tour is ideal for pilgrims, spiritual seekers, adventure travelers, and those looking to unplug and reconnect with nature. Traveling via 4×4 SUV vehicles, the route ensures safety, comfort, and accessibility to regions that were once difficult to reach.
Whether you come for faith or for the mountains, the Overland Adi Kailash & Om Parvat Yatra offers more than a pilgrimage—it’s a life-transforming expedition into the divine heart of the Indian Himalayas.
