The adventure begins with your arrival in Leh, the capital of Ladakh. Situated at an altitude of 11,500 ft, the first couple of days are reserved for acclimatization and exploring local sights like Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace, Magnetic Hill, Hall of Fame, and the Sangam of Indus and Zanskar rivers. These initial days allow travelers to adjust to the thin mountain air while soaking in the beauty of Leh and its surroundings.
On Day 3, the real ride or drive begins as the group crosses the mighty Khardung La Pass, one of the highest motorable passes in the world, to reach Nubra Valley. What sets this itinerary apart is the journey beyond Pangong—to the isolated village of Hanle. Located near the Indo-China border, Hanle is known for its ancient monastery and the Indian Astronomical Observatory, one of the highest in the world. With two nights in Hanle, travelers get the rare opportunity to explore Ladakh’s most remote, offbeat side. The silence, the wide-open spaces, and the clear night skies make Hanle an unforgettable destination.
From Hanle, the route leads to Tso Moriri, a breathtaking high-altitude lake in the Rupshu Valley. Far less commercialized than Pangong, Tso Moriri offers a serene escape amidst snow-capped peaks and nomadic settlements. Wildlife sightings like kiangs (wild asses) and migratory birds are common here.
The tour concludes with a return journey to Leh via the dramatic landscapes of the Changthang plateau. This extended circuit not only gives a fuller experience of Ladakh but also provides rich insights into the region’s culture, terrain, and natural wonders.
